Feminist Ethics

INFEGEDU website

Cahuimapeando is a research project looking for a space to save and share feminist experiences,
knowledge and rebellions built from individual and collective reflection on gender from and with
feminist articulations.
We want to rescue the concept of cahuin and its meaning of gossip to redefine the spaces where
we share knowledge and experiences. Instead of thinking about cahuín as problematic behavior,
especially among women, we want to recognize the informal spaces where we talk, conspire,
share, protect ourselves and generate feminist knowledge.
We use the map figure inspired by the queering the map project
(https://www.queeringthemap.com/) to illustrate the variety of experiences and knowledge
across the varied geography of our planet.
The pin will only locate your story on the map. The site has digital security and we will not save
your geolocation. For legal reasons, stories that identify people with first and last names cannot be
published.

All experiences and stories interest us, and as authors we are concerned about the anonymity and protection of your data, which we guarantee in this informed consent. If you change your mind adn rather want us to remove your story, we promise to do so immediately. With this consent, you authorize us to analyze your stories and with them do some more research and present our results at conferences. All publications and presentations will be available on the web for people who
want to see these analyses.

We leave you some ideas to start sharing your stories:

• Do you remember when and where you first became familiar with feminism? How did it influence your life?
• What have you learned from feminism?
• If you have participated in the creation or lived in a feminist space, can you describe it? Where is or was it located? What activities or purposes did it have?
• Can you tell a story in which you challenged gender expectations imposed by others? Where did this happen?
• Can you share a story where you loved and felt comfortable or uncomfortable with your body? Where were you when this happened?
• Can you share a story where you became involved in the fight for LGBTQ+ rights? Where and how did you get involved?
• Have you ever felt inspired by feminist creativity and art? Where and what was the artistic expression?
• Can you name a work of art, book, movie, song, or creative project that made you think about gender issues?
• Have you been influenced by feminist figures in your life, such as teachers, leaders or friends?

With an approach rooted in feminist ethics, we have created this map with deep inspiration and
unwavering commitment. Our intention is twofold: first, to shed light on the power structures that
exert a significant influence on the production and dissemination of knowledge, as well as on the
way in which gender issues are addressed in the field of research. Second, we are dedicated to
building knowledge in a more inclusive way, highlighting feminist knowledge, experiences, and
resistances that are often relegated to hard-to-access texts. We aspire to actively collaborate in
the creation and dissemination of this map, which reveals the rich territorial and individual
diversity of all the people involved in this process.

Ana Luisa Muñoz García
Fondecyt #1210477

By collaborating with your story you are participating in the FONDECYT “Mapping the construction of knowledge from a gender perspective” led by researcher Ana Luisa Muñoz García. This project seeks to analyze policies and processes of knowledge construction in higher education systems from a gender perspective. Under the assumption that knowledge is constructed in diverse ways and in different spaces, the objective of your participation is to inform the construction of knowledge about feminisms from activisms. If you agree to participate, you must leave a story about feminist activism. You will not have to share any private information and you will only be asked for profile data (non-personal), a first name without a surname or pseudonym and age (without date of birth), which will be associated with a story and not with a user. You can publish more than one story. You should not mention any personal information about yourself or anyone else in the story. There are no benefits to participating in this study and there are no risks to you by participating in it. No data will be recorded that would allow you to be identified and the stories will not have your own name. Any information obtained in connection with this study will be confidential. It is possible that the story you provide will be used again, but only in scientific research that continues along the same line of research. If you have any questions about this research, you can review the digital security protocol of this project and/or contact Dr. Ana Luisa Muñoz García (aumunoz@uc.cl).

If you have any questions or concerns regarding your rights as a participant in this study, you can contact the Scientific Ethics Committee of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities. President: David Preiss Contreras. Contact: eticadeinvestigacion@uc.cl
